Sunglass Sizes
Sunglasses that are the right size fit comfortably, provide effective eye protection, and look great. To make choosing the right style as easy as possible, we list the key dimensions for each sunglass model in the product description.
We always list the following information for our sunglasses:
- Temple length – indicates how far the temples extend behind the ears.
- Bridge width – indicates the total width of the sunglasses.
- Lens height – helps you assess how well the lens protects your eyes from below and from the sides.
With these measurements, you can easily compare new sunglasses to models that have fit you well in the past.
UV400 protection—the most important feature in sunglasses
The most important function of sunglasses is to protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet radiation, or UV radiation. All sunglasses at Ninja.fi offer 100% UV protection (UV400), which effectively blocks both UVA and UVB radiation.
UV radiation is present year-round. In the summer, it comes directly from the sun, but snow, ice, water, sand, and light-colored surfaces also strongly reflect UV radiation. That’s why sunglasses aren’t just useful on sunny days, but also in the winter, while boating, at the beach, and while driving.
What does UV400 mean?
UV400 means that the lens filters out virtually all harmful ultraviolet radiation up to a wavelength of 400 nanometers.
In other words:
- protects against both UVA and UVB radiation
- protects the eyes from prolonged UV exposure
- is one of the most important features of high-quality sunglasses
A dark lens alone is not enough. Sunglasses must always include effective UV protection.
Protecting Children’s Eyes
Children’s eyes let through more UV radiation than adults’ eyes. That’s why, when choosing sunglasses for children, you should pay special attention to:
- UV400 protection
- lenses that are large enough
- a good fit
- protection against light coming from the sides
Do the sunglasses meet EU requirements?
Yes.
All sunglasses sold on Ninja.fi meet European Union safety requirements and the requirements of the applicable sunglasses standard. The CE marking indicates that the manufacturer certifies the product meets the relevant EU requirements.
Polarized lenses
Polarized sunglasses reduce glare by effectively eliminating light reflected off horizontal surfaces.
This results in clearer vision, improved contrast, and less eye strain in bright conditions.
Many people notice the difference right away the first time they wear them.
When are polarized sunglasses at their best?
Polarized lenses are particularly useful, for example:
- driving
- boating
- fishing
- at the beach
- golfing
- hiking
- while biking
- when spending time outdoors in bright weather
They significantly reduce glare from water, wet asphalt, snow, and car hoods.
Polarized or regular sunglasses?
It’s important to understand that UV400 and polarization are two different features.
UV400
- protects the eyes from harmful UV radiation
Polarization
- reduces glare
- improves contrast
- reduces eye strain
For the best experience, choose sunglasses that feature both UV400 protection and polarized lenses.
Sunglasses CAT Rating
The CAT rating indicates how much visible light the sunglasses’ lenses allow to pass through. The higher the CAT rating, the darker the lens.
The CAT rating does not indicate UV protection. Both light and dark lenses offer the same UV400 protection.
